BASEBALL (RECORD 30-11 REGION 12-4, CONFERENCE 12-4)

THURSDAY APRIL 27, Orange and Westchester exchanged runs in the first two innings. But 4 runs in the bottom of the third gave WCC the lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Nick Cona (Walter Panas HS/Cortlandt Manor, NY) got the start and was steady over six innings, giving up two runs and striking out seven. One of the offensive stars was Jon Carlo Angiolillo (Pleasantville HS/Pleasantville, NY), who went 1 for 2 with two walks and two RBI’s. Felix Camacho (St. Raymond’s HS/Bronx, NY) also had two hits and 2 RBIs to power the team to victory. Steve Guzman (JFK HS/Bronx, NY) poked three hits, including a triple while going 3 for 5. FRIDAY APRIL 28 Friday was Scottie Giordano‘s (Croton Harmon HS/Croton, NY) day, as he not only got the start for the Vikings but provided all the offense the team needed for the game. He pitched seven innings giving up just one run, while scattering seven hits with six strike outs. In the fourth, after the Vikings scored on a fielder’s choice RBI by Alonso Tenya (Lima, Peru/Scarsdale, NY), Giordano laced a drive right center field that cleared the wall for a 3-run homer. CJ Sager (Mahopac HS/Mahopac, NY) was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs for the game. WCC would tack on four more runs later in the game in route to the 8-2 win. SATURDAY APRIL 29 The Vikings swept an away Conference twinbill from Orange 19-8 and 18-7. Felix Camacho (Bronx) had 5 RBIs and went 4e for 5 with a homerun, in the first game. In the second game Brian Corporan (Bronx) went 3 for 5 with 5 RBIs and Steve Guzman (Bronx) went 3 for 6 with 5 RBIs.
