The last competitors of WCC’s 2016-2017 season finished up the year for the Vikings at the NJCAA Golf National Championships last week as two members of the golf team had qualified during the regional tournament. Sophomore Brian Crawford (Carmel HS/Stormville, NY) competed in his second straight national tournament, while Jacob Liebersohn (Ardsley HS/Ardsley, NY) earned a berth to the event in his first and only season in the blue and gold.

Westchester’s golfers would compete in four rounds on consecutive days for the first time all season. Crawford got off to a solid start, shooting an 80 on day 1 last Tuesday. Liebersohn started off play a little off of his season average, finishing the first 18 holes with an 86. Jacob would bounce back on day 2 though, completing his second round with an 80, while Crawford shot is tournament low, 82.

On Thursday, Liebersohn struggled in the poor elements, posting a 90 on the day. Crawford then shot his tournament best 79. Both golfers would play well on the final day Friday as Crawford stayed consistent with an 80 as Liebersohn posted an 84. Of over 90 golfers, Brian would finish 28th overall with a 4-round score of 321. Jacob’s 340 was good for 63rd position in the nation, overall.

The tournament caps off an outstanding campaign for the Viking Golf team as they look forward to another strong year next season.
