Former Rockland Coach Willis Inducted to Rockland County Hall of Fame0

Former coach Emil Willis will be inducted to the Rockland County Hall of Fame along with his brother, Bob Willis, Tom Lawson and the 1971 North Rockland football team.

Emil was a three-sports athlete at Spring Valley High School.  He continued his basketball and baseball career at Springfield College before enlisting in the Army. He came back to became a teacher and coach.

Emil Willis began his career at RCC in 1969. He has served as the College’s head baseball, men’s and women’s volleyball, bowling and assistant men’s basketball coach. He led the baseball team to two conference championships in his first two years as the coach and led Hawks bowlers to numerous NJCAA national championship.

For many years he served as the Physical Education Department Chairperson. He founded and ran the RCC Summer Sports Academy, which is now on its 46th year.

Mr. Willis was inducted to the Rockland Community College Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2013.

Due to Covid-19, the induction banquet has been postponed until April 23, 2022.
