Behind Tommie Starkes‘ 27 points, the Rockland Community College Men’s Basketball team outlasted Northern Essex Community College (MA), 79-66, in the consolation game of the 2011 Alfred State Tournament in Alfred, New York. Starkes was named to the All-Tournament Team. Sophomore forward Michael Braithwaite helped in the victory by netting 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Hawks (2-5) return home on Tuesday November 22 to face perennial power Westchester. Tip-off is slated for 8pm or about 20 minutes following the conclusion of the opening game between the Lady Hawks (1-2) and border-rival Bergen CC. The women’s game is set to begin at 6pm.
