Rockland Basketball Update

Hawks

Both the RCC men’s and women’s basketball teams once again completed successful seasons. The Lady Hawks traveled to Suffolk Community College and fell to the Sharks, 56-42, in a Region XV Tournament Semi-Final on Saturday March 1. Under Coach Rich Jacobson, RCC finished with an 18-11 record and appeared in their third straight Region XV Tournament. Captain Erika Richards was named to the All-Region and All-Mid Hudson Conference First Team. Richards finished her two-year career with 953 points after scoring 14 in the season finale. Newcomer Allison Haugh was named to the All-Mid Hudson Conference First Team.

The men’s team finished with an 18-12 record after falling to host Suffolk, 66-52, in the Region XV Quarterfinals. Jason Quijada led the Hawks with 19 points and five assists. The Spring Valley High graduate finished his two-year career with 1,265 career points, and was the third 1,000 point scorer in Coach Bill Kurisko‘s nine year career. Quijada joined North Rockland’s Kahreign Joseph on the All-Mid Hudson Conference First Team. Former Ramapo High standout, David Haye was selected to the All-Mid Hudson Conference Second Team. Quijada was also named to the All-Region XV First Team, while Joseph was named Honorable Mention.
