By finishing the regular season with a 7-5 record the RCC Men’s Soccer team entered the Region XV Tournament last week as the No. 5 seed. On Saturday October 25, the Hawks traveled to Bayside to take on the No. 4 seed Queensborough Tigers. After Queensborough defeated RCC in the regular season, 6-1, Coach Loren Green‘s team went into the game as a steep underdog.
After trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Hawks rallied behind two goals from leading scorer Cristian Diaz and one goal from Myko Pierre. Sal Barbetto recorded 22 saves in the 3-2 Hawk win.
RCC now moves on to the Region XV Tournament semi-final, and travels to Nassau Community College on Wednesday October 29. The start time is scheduled for 2pm. If RCC can pull out another road victory, they would advance to the Region XV Championship game on Saturday (Nov. 1).
