SUNY Orange’s Romeo Aquino was named the 2022-2023 DII Men’s Basketball Player of the Year after leading the Colts to a 31-3 record and a national tournament appearance. He was also selected to the 2022-23 NJCAA DII First Team All-American.

The sophomore was a named the 2022-23 Mid-Hudson Conference Most Valuable Player and 2022-23 NJCAA Region 15 Player of the Year.

Four conference athletes were named 2022-23 NJCAA All-America Teams.

Romeo Aquino of SUNY Orange and Jay Alvarez of Sullivan CCC were selected to the 2022-23 NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball First Team All-Americans.

Deivejon Harris of Sullivan CCC was selected to the 2022-23 NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Third Team All-Americans.

Victor Potter Jr. of Dutchess CC was selected to the 2022-23 NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Third Team All-Americans

Men’s Basketball: Orange Finishes 4th in National Tournament0

SUNY Orange loss to host Danville Area Jaguars 74-65 to finish 4th in the 2023 NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship last weekend.  Kevin Stein led the Colts with 22 points while Keon Gill added 15.

The sixth-seed Colts defeated 11th seed Scottsdale 85-63 during the first round of the tourney. Romeo Aquino led all scorers with 28 points while Kevin Stein added 21. This set up a showdown against third-seed Henry Ford in the quarterfinals.

During the quarterfinal round, all starters scored in double figures as Colts upset Henry Ford 102-87. Keon Gill led all scores with 34 points while Aquino registered a double-double with 24 points and 17 rebounds. Darius Boben, Tim Linton and Stein added 16, 14 and 11 points respectively.

Men’s Basketball: Dutchess ends Tournament Run0

The 12th-seed Falcons loss to fifth-seed Northampton 65-81 in the first round of the 2023 NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship at Herkimer, NY. Jacob Barnett led the Falcons with 24 points while Vince Potter Jr. added 19.

During the consolation game, the Falcons scored 51 points in the second half but it wasn’t enough as they loss to 8th seed Prince George’s 85-90. Barnett led the Falcons with 21 points while Nashaun Johnson added 19. Ahmad Maddox came off the bench to contribute 16 points.

The Falcons ended their season with a 17-14 record.

Men’s Basketball: Orange wins NJCAA DII East B District Tournament0

SUNY Orange Colts

SUNY Orange defeated Raritan Valley 79-76 to win the 2022-23 NJCAA DII East B District Tournament yesterday at Sullivan CCC. The Colts were led by George Patsalos with 17 points and 20 rebounds. Darius Boben added 16 points while Kevin Stein had 15 points. Region XV Player of the Year Romeo Aquino chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds.

The Colts will head to the 2023 NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship for the first time in 17 years. The Championship will be held in Danville, Illinois from March 21-25.  The National Tournament seeding will be announced on March 14 at 2:00 PM ET via the NJCAA Basketball Selection Show on the NJCAA Network.
