Sophomore infielder Luisbert Frias of Westchester was selected the Mid-Hudson Conference most valuable player of the 2023 season.

Four conference athletes were named 2022-23 NJCAA All-America Teams.

Romeo Aquino of SUNY Orange and Jay Alvarez of Sullivan CCC were selected to the 2022-23 NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball First Team All-Americans.

Deivejon Harris of Sullivan CCC was selected to the 2022-23 NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Third Team All-Americans.

Victor Potter Jr. of Dutchess CC was selected to the 2022-23 NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Third Team All-Americans

Women’s Basketball: All-Conference announced. Deivejon Harris voted MVP0

Delvejon Harris

Deivejon Harris of Sullivan CCC was voted as the most valuable player of the 2022-2023 Mid-Hudson Conference women’s basketball season. The sophomore center was also selected as the 22-23 Region XV DII Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. Harris top JUCO DII nation with 180 offensive rebounds. She was second in rebounds per game (14.3) and third in total rebounds (372) as of March 8, 2023.

Joining Harris on all-conference and all-region team are  Adriana McFadden (Westchester), Brieanna Maple (Sullivan), Barbara Bruno (Sullivan) and Shanice Wilcox (Westchester).

Men’s Basketball: All-Conference Team Announced. Romeo Aquino selected MVP0

Romeo Aquino, SUNY Orange

Romeo Aquino of SUNY Orange was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2022-2023 Mid-Hudson Conference men’s basketball season. Aquino average 23.8 points and 10.1 rebounds to lead the Colts to an 8-0 conference record and 29-1 overall record. His 715 total points and 23.8 ppg ranks second and third in the DII (NJCAA Division II).

Selected to the all-conference first team are Jay Alvarez (Sullivan),  Kevin Stein (Orange), Ed Biqiri (Westchester), Darius Boben (Orange) and Tayejon Lynch (Rockland)

Selected to the second team are Kipplyn Richvine (Sullivan), Jaire Curry (Sullivan), Keon Gill (Orange), Diamonte McMillan (Rockland), and Omar Nkonde (Westchester)

Men’s Basketball: Sullivan defeats Orange, captures fourth straight Region XV Crown0

Sullivan Community College defeated host SUNY Orange 73-70 to win their fourth straight Region XV Men’s Basketball DII Crown.  The Generals were led by Jair Currie (23 points), Jay Alvarez (17 points) and Kipplyn Richvine (12 points).  Romeo Aquino led the Colts with 18 points. This was the Colts first loss of the 2022-23 season.

Both teams have qualified for the East A/B District Tournament next weekend with Sullivan facing Region III Champion Niagara County in the EAST A District Tournament while Orange will face Region XIX Champion Raritan Valley in the East B District Tournament. The District Tournament will be held in Sullivan County Community College.

District Tournament winners earns an automatic bid to the 2022-2023 NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship.
