Men’s Basketball: Orange Finishes 4th in National Tournament

SUNY Orange loss to host Danville Area Jaguars 74-65 to finish 4th in the 2023 NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship last weekend.  Kevin Stein led the Colts with 22 points while Keon Gill added 15.

The sixth-seed Colts defeated 11th seed Scottsdale 85-63 during the first round of the tourney. Romeo Aquino led all scorers with 28 points while Kevin Stein added 21. This set up a showdown against third-seed Henry Ford in the quarterfinals.

During the quarterfinal round, all starters scored in double figures as Colts upset Henry Ford 102-87. Keon Gill led all scores with 34 points while Aquino registered a double-double with 24 points and 17 rebounds. Darius Boben, Tim Linton and Stein added 16, 14 and 11 points respectively.

The Colts loss a tight game during the semifinal round, losing to Milwaukee Area Tech 79-76. Aquino registered a double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds) while Gill added 15.

The Colts finished the season with a 31-3 record. Gill was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
