GOLF
Congratulations to Alexis Birrittella (Sleepy Hollow HS) who was awarded by the NJCAA for Exemplary Academic Achievement with a 3.64 GPA. Alexis was a second year player on the golf team and is transferring to the U of Florida. Also Congratulations to first year player Frank Mele who was also given the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award with a 3.77 GPA. Frank will be going to school in Florida next year.
The Westchester Community College Golf Team finished tied for second in the Nation with Lackawana College for Academic Golf Team of the year, with a Team GPA of 3.57. The Academic Team of the year was Dodge City CC with a 3.88 Team GPA.
BOWLING
Congratulations to Jamey Rivera (Mt Vernon, NY) who has been honored by the NJCAA for Superior Academic Achievement in the sport of bowling with a 3.94 GPA. Frank Mele (Hendrick Hudson High School) was honored for Exemplary Academic Achievement with a 3.77 GPA. Both just graduated. Rivera will be attending Columbia, Stevens Tech or St Johns and Mele will be going to school in Florida. Mele was a second year bowler and Rivera bowled one year for the Vikings.
SOFTBALL
The Vikings ended up with a 3.11 team GPA and were one of the top 60 NJCAA academic women’s softball teams.
