Former Vikings Luis Montero and Jarrid Famous have signed professional contracts to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) this season.
Former Westchester 6-7 forward Luis Montero (Dominican Republic) has signed a $600,000 non-guaranteed contract with the Portland Trailblazers of the NBA. Montero will play on Portland’s summer league team. Montero played for Westchester during the 2013-2014 season. He averaged 15.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while helping the Vikings win the Mid-Hudson Conference Crown. For full press release, click here
Former Westchester star, Jarrid Famous, from Blessed Sacrament HS, has signed a partially guaranteed three-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA. Famous has an impressive summer league with the Washington Wizards averaging 12.8 pointa and 8.3 rebounds per game. Famous played for Westchester during the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 season. He was named the Conference Most Valuable Player during his sophomore year after leading the Vikings to the Mid-Hudson Conference crown. He was also named the Region XV DI Player of the Year.
