BASEBALL (RECORD 4-4, REGION 0-0, CONFERENCE 0-0)

MONDAY MARCH 6 Baseball held their first game of the season at WCC’s campus yesterday defeating the Queensborough Tigers 19-0. The pitching staff combined for 5 innings of no-hit ball in route to the win. The only base runner QCC saw was a HBP by John Reda who struck out 6 in two innings of work.

The Vikings jumped all over the Tigers in the first inning, posting 12 runs in the frame. Felix Camacho (St Raymond’s HS/Bronx, NY) had 5 RBIs while going 2 for 3 with a HR and a double. Nick Cona (Walter Panas HS/Cortlandt Manor, NY) also homered while pitching three scoreless innings himself. Jeffrey Hernandez (Sacred Heart HS/Yonkers, NY) helped out the offense by going 2-2 with an RBI. Shortstop Steve Guzman (JFK HS/Bronx, NY) made his season debut with a 2 for 2, 2 RBI effort.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 8 The WCC Baseball team was back in action today in a non-region game versus Bergen CC.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, Felix Camacho (St. Raymonds/Bronx, NY) came through with a 2-RBI base hit to tie the score in the third. The Bulldogs would break the tie in the 5th scoring one then tacking on three runs in the 6th. The Vikings managed only one hit after the 4th inning and were not able to get any closer. The game was called as a win for Bergen 8-2, after the 7th inning due to darkness. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 4-3 on the season.

SUNDAY MARCH 12 Alex Borman (Huntington NY) went 2 for 4 but the Vikings fell to Kirkwood College 3-2 at Vero Beach. Kirkwood scored a run in the bottom of the 9th for the walk off win.
