Baseball: Westchester Notches Four Straight Wins

BASEBALL (RECORD 15-6, REGION 0-0, CONFERENCE 0-0)

March 29, 2017 – Valhalla, NY

The Vikings picked up a non-region win today, besting Sussex CC 7-6. WCC would come out on the winning end of what was a back and forth game for nine innings.

Niko Hagerty (Monroe/Bronx, NY) got the team on the board with an RBI triple that scored Jose Delacruz (George Washington HS/New York, NY). CJ Sager (Mahopac HS/Mahopac, NY) then plated Hagerty with and RBI single. Brian Corporan (HS for Environmental Studies/Bronx, NY) would single later in the inning to make the score 4-0.

WCC would give runs back in the top of the 3rd when walks led to 3 runs for the Skylanders. SCCC then took the lead in the Top of the 4th when an unearned run scored on a fielders choice and a wild pitch led to the go ahead run. The Vikings wasted no time in tying the game when Scottie Giordano (Croton Harmon HS/Croton, NY) stole home on a play where Corporan stayed in a run down long enough on a stolen base attempt.

CJ Sager would then drive in De La Cruz with a single in the top of the 9th. Nick Cona (Walter Panas HS/Cortlandt Manor, NY) came in to slam the door, but after an error a run scored on a Sussex base hit to tie the game. In the bottom of the inning, after 2 quick outs, Corporan reached on a single and was drove in by Steve Guzman (JFK HS/Bronx, NY) who laced a hit to the warning track for a walk off double.

With the win, the Vikings move to 13-6 on the season. The return to action tomorrow, Thursday, March 30th as they host Bronx Community College at 3pm on West Field.
