RCC welcomes back Alumnus Bruce Kreutzer for “Life After the Rock” Series0

Rockland Community College kicked off it’s Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series “Life After the Rock” with Alumnus Bruce Kreutzer yesterday afternoon.  Mr. Kreutzer is currently an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Kreutzer was a member of the RCC Hawks from 1968-1970 under legendary coach Howie Pierson. He continued his collegiate career at SUNY New Paltz before transitioning into coaching.  He was the head coach at Garinger High School where he won the 4A Boys State High School title in 1989.

He started in NBA career as a shooting consultant for the NBA D-League (2008-2011) and Philadelphia 76ers (2008-2010) before becoming an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets from 2015-2018. He is partly credited with helping Kemba Walker transform into a strong shooter.  Since then, he has been an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic.

Kreutzer is being inducted to the Pearl River Sports Hall of Fame tonight where he was a two-sport athlete and all-county basketball.
